CRS grades are commonly used for spray applications needing rapid breaking, such as surface dressing or chip seal and certain tack coat operations where quick set is required. CRS-60 indicates a target residue range and viscosity behavior suited to spray bars and consistent chip retention. It is selected when traffic needs to return quickly and the aggregate conditions support fast break. Field success depends on temperature, humidity, surface moisture, and aggregate cleanliness. Calibration of spray rate and chip spread timing is critical.
