Rubber increases binder viscosity, introduces dispersion difficulty, and can destabilize emulsions if not properly pre processed. Plants may need pre swelling or high shear blending of rubber with hot bitumen before emulsification. Colloid mills and pumps must handle higher torque loads while controlling temperature to prevent overheating or premature breaking. Filtration can clog due to agglomerates. Storage stability is often more sensitive, requiring controlled agitation and dedicated tanks. QC must verify rubber content consistency, stability, sprayability, and performance properties aligned to waterproofing or road use.
