Cold production raises viscosity and reduces emulsification efficiency, so adjust by optimizing soap solution quality, emulsifier type and dose, and maintaining stable pH. Bitumen temperature must still be high enough for good dispersion without overheating the emulsion. Increase mill power or fine tune rotor-stator gap and speed to achieve required droplet size at lower thermal energy. Keep water quality consistent and avoid air entrainment. Storage design becomes more important because cold emulsions can separate faster if agitation is weak or if temperature swings occur.
