A continuous plant typically uses a heated bitumen feed system, an aqueous phase preparation skid with controlled dosing of emulsifier, acid or alkali, salts, and stabilizers, then a high shear colloid mill as the core emulsification stage. Downstream, include a controlled cooling section if needed, product transfer pumps selected to minimize shear, and dedicated storage tanks with gentle agitation. Inline instrumentation for flow ratio, temperature, pH, and sometimes density improves repeatability. The key configuration goal is stable metering into the mill and minimal shear after the mill to avoid breaking.
