A typical plant includes asphalt heating and storage with insulation, a water phase tank with controlled dosing of emulsifier, acid or base for pH, and optional polymers. Both phases are metered to a colloid mill where high shear creates the target droplet size. The emulsion then passes through a finishing line with temperature control, sampling points, filters, and storage tanks with gentle agitation. Key controls include asphalt temperature, water chemistry, pH, mill speed and gap, flow ratios, and residence time. Quality control testing and retention samples are part of the production loop.
