What industrial applications require asphalt emulsion instead of hot bitumen or cutback asphalt?

Emulsions are preferred where cold application, reduced fire risk, and lower solvent exposure matter. Common industrial uses include tack coats, surface treatments, slurry and cold mixes, dust control or stabilization where permitted, and waterproofing coatings for concrete and masonry. They are also used when jobsite access or safety rules limit hot kettles and high temperature spraying. Compared with cutbacks, emulsions typically support better environmental compliance and easier cleanup, but they require curing time and dry weather windows.
