Fast-breaking tack coat emulsions require controlled particle size, optimized emulsifier chemistry, and high mill shear energy. Bitumen hardness, emulsifier type, and dosage must be matched to aggregate surface chemistry. Milling gap settings and rotor speed are adjusted to achieve fine dispersion without overheating. Excessive shear can reduce stability, while insufficient shear causes slow break and poor adhesion. pH and residual binder content must be tightly controlled.
