There is no single universal elastomer percentage because crack-bridging depends on polymer type, base asphalt, filler system, film thickness, and curing conditions. Many systems meet crack-bridging targets through a combination of polymer modification and specified minimum dry film thickness, sometimes with reinforcement fabric for larger movement. The right approach is performance-based: require test results for elongation, elastic recovery, low-temperature flexibility, and crack-bridging at specified temperatures, then back-calculate polymer dosage during formulation development. For procurement, insist on performance data and application thickness requirements rather than a fixed polymer number.
