Cold applied systems depend on water evaporation and controlled breaking, so curing is sensitive to temperature, humidity, wind, and substrate moisture. Adhesion failures often come from dust, laitance, oily surfaces, or standing water. Film formation can be uneven if application is too thick or if the emulsion breaks too fast. On porous substrates, absorption can pull water and destabilize the film. Plan for surface preparation, correct primer or tack grade, and realistic cure windows before overcoating or opening traffic, especially in cool or damp conditions.
