SS1 is typically a slow setting emulsion designed to remain stable during handling and mixing, with controlled breaking rather than instant separation. Specifications usually define residue content, viscosity, sieve residue, pH range, storage stability, and demulsibility or mixing performance depending on the standard used. SS1 is often selected where longer workability is needed, but it still must break reliably on aggregate and cure to a durable binder film.
