Density is used as a fast indicator of binder content consistency and potential phase separation. Inline density measurement can flag wrong water to bitumen ratio, incorrect additive dosing, or entrained air. During storage, trending density at different tank heights can reveal early separation or settling issues. Density alone is not a full quality test, but combined with temperature compensation, viscosity, and residue checks, it helps operators detect drift before a batch fails specification or becomes unstable in the tank.
