Demulsibility reflects how readily an emulsion breaks when in contact with aggregate and electrolytes. Products engineered for controlled demulsibility require tighter formulation control and consistent raw materials, which increases cost. In application, demulsibility affects workable time, sprayability, and risk of premature break in equipment. If demulsibility is too high, contractors see clogged lines and streaky films. If too low, cure is slow and early trafficking fails. Pricing rises when a producer guarantees narrow demulsibility ranges and provides batch-by-batch QC to match DOT specifications.
