Can the same sprayer system be used for both cutback bitumen and bitumen emulsions without modification?
Usually not without careful modification. Cutbacks and emulsions differ in viscosity behavior, solvent compatibility, cleaning requirements, and nozzle and filter selection. Residual cutback solvent can destabilize emulsions and cause breaking in the line. Seals and hoses must be compatible with both products, and flushing procedures must prevent cross contamination. If dual use is required, use dedicated tanks and lines or plan strict cleaning protocols and material compatibility checks.
