Cold applied waterproofing emulsions need a sound, clean, and dry to damp substrate with no standing water. Loose dust, laitance, curing compounds, oil, and weak concrete must be removed, and cracks or honeycombs should be repaired before coating. Priming or diluted first coat is often required to improve wetting and adhesion. Curing depends on evaporation and coalescence, so temperature, airflow, and humidity control are critical. Low temperature or high humidity slows cure, increases re emulsification risk, and reduces early rain resistance.
