Requirements depend on capacity, but modern plants typically need reliable electrical supply for heaters, pumps, and the colloid mill, plus water supply with treatment, compressed air for valves and instrumentation, and safe chemical handling systems for acids and emulsifiers. Footprint includes raw bitumen storage, soap tanks, finished product tanks, truck loading area, and lab space. Automation should cover flow metering, temperature control, and pH control with alarms, plus recipe management for grade switching. Higher automation reduces operator variability and improves batch traceability and repeatability.
