How do retail-grade emulsions differ from contractor-grade formulations technically?

Retail emulsions are usually optimized for convenience: broader tolerance to storage, simple application, and cost control, often with lower solids, less strict particle size distribution, and fewer performance guarantees under heavy traffic or demanding substrates. Contractor-grade emulsions are typically made to meet specification limits for residue, viscosity, sieve, stability, charge, and controlled breaking to match aggregates and equipment. They are produced with tighter raw material control, stronger QC documentation, and batch traceability. The result is more predictable cure, bonding, and durability under professional application rates and site conditions.
