A typical SOP includes incoming raw material checks, heating and conditioning of bitumen, preparation of the aqueous phase with emulsifier and pH adjustment, calibration of dosing pumps, and controlled feeding into a colloid mill at specified temperatures and ratios. Post milling, the emulsion is transferred with low shear pumps to dedicated storage, sampled for QC, and released only after meeting acceptance limits. The SOP also covers grade changeovers, line flushing, cleaning, and documentation of batch records. Critical control points are pH, temperature, ratio accuracy, mill settings, and contamination prevention in tanks and hoses.
