Rubber enrichment increases flexibility, improves crack bridging, and can enhance resistance to thermal cycling compared to standard emulsions. It often improves impact resistance and reduces brittleness at lower temperatures, helping coatings survive small substrate movements. For waterproofing, rubberized residues may offer better long term integrity in joints and details. The tradeoffs are higher viscosity, potential settling, and greater sensitivity to shear during pumping and spraying. Successful use depends on correct film thickness, adequate curing, and using equipment that avoids clogging or damaging the rubber modified structure.
