For protective coatings, confirm residue content and film build consistency, then run adhesion tests on concrete or masonry, water absorption or water resistance after curing, and flexibility or crack bridging performance. Aging tests such as heat aging, UV exposure, or wet dry cycles help predict durability. Permeability and ponding resistance tests are useful for roofs and below grade work. Also test drying time, recoat interval behavior, and compatibility with primers and protection boards. Basic emulsion QC tests alone do not prove waterproofing performance, so functional coating tests are needed.
