Use carbon steel tanks with epoxy lining, stainless steel, or HDPE for smaller volumes. Avoid bare aluminum and galvanized surfaces if the emulsion chemistry is acidic or contains salts. Tanks should be insulated, shaded, and fitted with low shear recirculation for gentle mixing. Typical safe storage is above the minimum pumpable temperature and above freezing, often 5°C to 10°C minimum depending on grade. Upper temperature is usually limited to about 60°C because overheating accelerates emulsion breakdown, water loss, and skin formation. Always follow supplier storage limits on the data sheet.
